I ’m Whitney Sargent

I’ve spent more than a decade mentoring both teams and individual players in the corporate world. Throughout the course of my career, I’ve seen the extraordinary positive effects that a carefully cultivated team can bring to any organization. And I’ve also witnessed the devastating results of having misaligned support staff. My mentorship of teams has resulted in millions of dollars of revenue brought into the organizations I serve, as well as -- and perhaps more importantly -- immense personal satisfaction.

But I’ve also experienced tragedy as a result of a misunderstood worker.

On March 10, 2016, I hid in a focus booth directly beside where a disgruntled employee took his own life and the life of a fellow team member. I saw that this senseless tragedy might have been avoided with better communication and understanding. This employee who took his own life and the life of my colleague that day clearly had major issues. There is no guarantee that better communication could have prevented the shooting, but I feel certain that better understanding would have diffused the tensions that caused this man to act out in such a devastating way.

My goal for you is that you lead and communicate with your team in a way that enhances the enjoyment, fulfillment, and profitability of each of your colleagues. Effective team management can also dramatically reduce the odds of any kind of workplace violence or unrest, keeping you and your colleagues both safe and happy.

Session 1

Overview + Team Fundamentals

In your initial session, you’ll learn to empower your team members with ownership, involvement, and radical personal responsibility over their results. You’ll discuss and set foundational boundaries for how your team interacts with each other, so that each member feels valued and appreciated. Likely results following this session are increased efficacy and understanding among your team.

Session 2

Team Goals and Measures

What gets measured can improve. In this Session, you’ll learn to set meaningful KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) and convey them to your team in a way that sparks cooperation and collaboration. This session sets your organization up to accomplish your biggest goals.

Session 3

The Art of Giving and Receiving Feedback

Constructive feedback is essential in a well-functioning team. In this session, you will learn the skills to share openly with your team around areas of improvement without damaging the working relationship. You’ll also receive guidance on how to celebrate your team’s accomplishments, so that they work hard to achieve new levels of success.

 

Session 4

Forté Communication for Coaching and Leadership

In this session, you’ll develop an understanding of each team member’s unique communication style so that you can build a sturdy foundation of trust. Breakthroughs come when colleagues feel both understood and appreciated on the job. We use a tool called the Forté Assessment to discover each team member’s primary communication style so that you can begin to understand how each employee is adapting his or her natural preferences to achieve success in your workplace.

Session 5

Team Size, Location, Culture & Generation Considerations

This session centers around factors like the demographic makeup of your team and your own unique workplace culture. You’ll receive skills to learn how to balance cultural considerations with respect and appreciation.

 

Session 6

Listening and Empowering Questions

A masterful leader knows how to ask questions in a way that draws the best out of his or her team members. A gifted mentor knows that his or her protégé has many unique skills and talents that must be illuminated and nurtured. This session will equip you to ask powerful questions that will yield positive results from your team.

Session 7

Adaptable Coaching - Giving Your Team What They Need When They Need It MosT

To accomplish your biggest business goals, you must have a dependable, capable team in place. In this session, you’ll learn to delegate tasks that aren’t within your zone of genius so you can spend your time doing your most impactful work. You’ll begin reaping the benefits of your team’s unique abilities as you release the reins.

Session 8

The GROW Model

In your final mentorship session, you’ll be trained on how to utilize the GROW method with each of your team members. This powerful coaching technique will help you draw the very best out of each of your support staff and help them get on board with your organization’s big vision.
